San Jose de Cucuta, a capital city of Norte de Santander department of Colombia, was in the headlines for the wrong reason. On February 23, 2019. at Cucuta, a convoy carrying humanitarian aid tried to enter Venezuela but was stopped and burned by the forces loyal to president Nicolas Maduro.
Violent clashes began and lasted for days, during which time the borders were closed. The protestors used stones, bottles, shoes as projectiles, making Molotov cocktails, during the fight with the Venezuelan police. Many were severely injured, asking for help at the Colombian side.
